    Design Review

The Design Review Committee administers the Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions.

It is the responsibility of the homeowner to inform the Design Review Committee of all construction, plat and landscaping plans and specifications showing the nature, kind, shape, height, materials, color and location. Communicating this information to the Design Review Committee is done through one of the two forms and must be provided to the Design Review Committee at least 30 days prior to commencing construction, or change to the exterior structure or landscaping. 

  • FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION on a vacant lot the Homeowner must submit a Design Review Form A to the Design Review Committee. The Site Plan, Elevations, Floor Plan, and Erosion/Sediment Control Plan are required to be approved by the Sandstone Design Review Committee before construction can commence. If the landscape plan has not been determined prior to construction of the structure, it can be submitted once the plan has been determined.  The City will not authorize a Building Permit until the Sandstone Hills Design Review Committee has Approved the Design Review Form A.

  • FOR ADDITIONS OR CHANGES to existing home and/or property the Homeowner must submit a Design Review Form B to the Design Review Committee. Changes to the exterior of the home including the home’s exterior structure, material, or color. Any addition to the landscape includes accessory structure with related design, materials and color as well as additions or changes to the landscape. If the change includes a retaining wall, the height and materials used must the detailed.


The Design Review Committee is required to approve or disapprove the request within 30 days after the application has been submitted. Should the Design Review Committee fail to approve or disapprove the request within the 30 days, the request is deemed to be approved; however, the deemed approval does not waive compliance with the standards set forth in the covenants.
